The Darkenfold

Post by Troll Lord »

Hello,

I've begun to really expand the Darkenfold region. Peter has redrawn the map that appears in the original Mortality of Green module and brought it up to scale. We've added a ton of place names (this will appear in the revised C&C Mort book coming out next week) and areas of interest. Some of these will not be touched upon in Mort but will be in the three follow on modules.

The first module should appear early next year and is tentatively titled "Wolves on the Mistbane". I'm not real happy with that so that may change to something that is more in line with The Mortality of Green. Each module will cover 1/4 of the wood.

Coming along you'll see more on Ends Meet, Greenbriar, Mount Hermitage, the abandoned village of Allice, Green Hill, Lilly Fare and so on and so forth.

Steve

This is great. The Darkenfold and Mortality have such a great atmosphere and feel to them, so I look forward to seeing more adventures here.

Good evening Steve. I'm sitting at work waiting for tech support in New Zealand and thought I'd catch up on the happenings on the boards. As you know, I'll be placing an order for Mortality as soon as you announce it... but I had a question about the other Darkenfold modules.

Will they be a series of adventures like the A modules or will they be more stand alone adventures with source setting information? Either way, I'm signing up.

I just got your post in another thread about ol'Horntooth. My players never had a chance to fight him, but they did have a memorable time sitting around his camp, smoking some strange goblin weed.

I long for the day to travel back into the Darkenfold... either with a new group or maybe gather the old Denver gang back up some long weekend.

Okay, I hate to do this (but I will anyway). I'm bumping this thread in hopes of getting an answer on my Darkenfold question.

It definitely appears like the listed moderator doesn't moderate these boards very often, doesn't it?
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Hallo,

I apologize for not getting to this sooner, I seem to visit the boards a lot one week and then not at all the next...I need to get some focus me thinks.
The Darkenfold modules will only be very loosely linked. For instance, in Mortality of Green the characters/CK are introduced to the village of Alice that lies south of Ends Meet. There is, perhaps a column of information on the long abandoned village. Just enough to tease the CK to create his own and keep it in line with the next book, but not so much as to detract from the overall adventure in Mortality, which, at its core remains the same. As with Alice a little more info was added to the region...place names and the like, and some info on The Bottoms, the Thicket etc etc

The second book, titled Shades of Mist, will offer one overarcing adventure, a little more linear than in Mort and more area encounters. I'll give info on the Merrick Forde, The Mistbane River, Mount Hermatage and more.

I had planned four mods to cover the Darkenfold, but will probably expand that quite a bit with PDF downloads and the like. These books will not just cover the Darkenfold, but bring more info on the southern Rhodope Mountains, the Great Soup Marsh, Eldwood and the Shelves of the Mist.

So, in short, the books will be more in tune stand alone adventures, several per book, with setting material.

Hope that helps and peaks interest!

Steve

Peaks mine! I tend to have a lot of fun with material presented in this manner.

Thanks for the information Steve. I'm looking forward to the expansion of the Darkenfold and the area around it. I get a lot of mileage out of books like this!

Got The new version of mortality and I love it. Looking forward to the new mods as well. Airdhe (Ok I hate the new spelling, sorry) is really becoming more and more interesting with products like this. A couple of questions:

1) will the map presented in the book be downloadable later?

2) Were these printed on the new printers? If so I have one minor gripe, the pages are too slick to pencil notes into. Other than that it looks slick!

Thanks you. I actually think a map section on the downloads page would be a nice addition to the site.

Well, I've ordered MoG for C&C to go along with my MoG for S&S. When I run my Erde/Airhde campaign, I'm going with this area.

By the way, how much was added from the S&S version to the C&C version?

Just got mine, but haven't read through it yet. I do have the d20 version and best I can tell, seems about the same in content(still 24 pages, but smaller/better type on the new mod).

Peter's center fold map is excellent. The fantastic cover art is just slightly off focus or somewhat washed out or fades compared the d20 cover image.

Great module. I'll probably run this after Lion.

Let us know how the new one compares to your earlier S&S version, Rigon.

I will Rhu. I'm hoping for more Airhde content.

So my book just shipped this afternoon from Piazo. I ordered it a week ago, but who's complaining. I should get it by midweek, as long as the post is still running on time.

Well, my MoG came today. I glanced through it quickly. The map is so FRICKIN' AWSOME! There is more info in the first 5 pages for the area than in the Codex or the AWD books. There are several "side" adventures and locals. I need more! Hurry up with the rest of the C line!

Here's a question/request for the Trolls.

Any chance the map from MoG can be made into a nice PDF?

Just finished reading MoG. This went from a kick a**e mod to a effing kick a**e mod. I especially like the write up for Ends Meet. It will make a great home base.
