Under the description of variuos ranged weapons, there's a 'shooting' number.
So, someone with the combat bundle, uses a base of 12 for their check, and the +8 shooting score of Lace Pistol to hit.
In essence requiring a 4 or higher on a d20 to hit a target.
Is this correct?

For crying out loud. Do your best with the rolls the dice have given you. This is what separates the men from the boys... -Kayolan

Pretty much except the target will have a defensive score adding to the target number based on reflexes, armour and skill that might bring that number back up to 12.

There may be other bits, I'm just going by the free sample rules. I may have missed something.
My actual copy is due to arrive tomorrow or wednesday, along with Dragon Warriors, Ars Magica and Rolemaster Express.
If it's cool with people I was going to post a "first impressions" post after I've read it through and designed some trappings.

OK, just got it. Don't really have time to take it all in at the moment.
But a quick question.
Say I want to make a big Plasma Cannon type thing. Like a 40K Marine Plasma Cannon or Traveller PGMP. 'coz I do.
Say I take a Blastgun. Add area effect, Armour crushing and combustible. (+15 points). Disadvantage, obvious (-3 points). That leaves 12 point to spread around.
Say a reliability of +3 points (overheat), +3 size (those things are freaking huge. Counting the powerpack on the marines back), +2 tech (contra-grav, similar tech to Traveller) leaves +4 to the value. So:
R3 S9 T8 V8
First impressions are it a pretty grossly powerfull weapon, big, bulky, high(ish) tech and very expensive. Should be banned on most sensible planets. Seems about right for a PGMP.
Is that added up right? Seem accurate?
