Crusader Issue #19

Post by Omote »

Received the issue today, and have to ask the artist about the drawing on page 4? Is the picture of the barbarian on page 4 of Crusder #19 going to be in the 4th printing of PHB? That drawing is amazing and is exaclty how I envision the new barbarian!!!

Nice work.

Now, on to more reading.

Forget the interior art (which is good, don't get me wrong), the cover is phenomenal. One of the best I've ever seen, bar none. Great job!

I really liked the CKG preview. I've been thinking about doing this in my campaign, and this preview gives me some good insight.

Well done, Trolls! Enough praising, I need to start reading.

The new barbarian take does make a lot of sense. I'm intrigued.

I agree. I really like the direction that the barbarian looks to be taken in.

Moreover, the Land & Title as Treasure table for the Ranger has my mouth watering for the full chapter. I'm eager to see more!

Just the little bit that is an excerpt from the CKG is just fantastic. This is no regular old DMG. No sir, the amount of information and the way it is presented looks to make the CKG an extremely informative tool for the C&C game. I haven't been looking forward to the CKG with any huge desire up until this point. Wow. Just great stuff.
Plus, the Aihrdian lore and monster section is just as good as always.

SWEET! I got my issue today!! Right before Canada Day too! AWESOME!

If the reason I got it so soon is because an effort was made to send the 'international ones' a day or two early, the please keep on doing it that way. It's really nice to get it around the same time that the rest of the readership does it. If I'm just really lucky, then I hope my luck just continues!

That phone number does indeed work when Steve is in the mood to answer the phone.

However, Maliki if you are experiencing a problem with your subscription I want you to send your name and contact information to me at sirjmw@aol.com and we will get you going.

Steve is great at taking care of problems, I just need to hear them and get the information I need to correct the mistake and 100% of the time the problem gets fixed.

He does! Or I may just get one for him. He just got into C&C and last week I loaned out two back issues (#6, and #18 at random). Now he wants more.

Guys and Dolls is a sweetly evil article. I'll definitely have to use such ideas in the near future.

Agricola sounds like a board game I will enjoy.

Love the peek into the CKG, and I may actually use these "land as treasure" guide lines.

I have other terms for that article; creepy, wrong and spawned from the pits of hell are among them.

I hate dolls.

Had a busy week, so I didn't get a chance to read Crusader until today. Pretty good stuff overall. Might have to take James up on some of his favorite books, and authors. The examination of the barbarian was quite interesting. Between Petey's new barbarian sketch, and the new interpretation, I'm excited to see what the new class has in store. Still enjoying Mr. Kask's Dragon Grumbles. Not sure if I'd have much use for Guys and Dolls in a game, but it was something different(in a good way). Agricola's not my kind of board game, but I do like reading game reviews in the hope that I might find something new. Land as Treasure gave me food for thought in upcoming C&C games. Casey, bring on the Halls of Adventure. Haven't had a chance to delve in to the battlefields article, or Ambushed by Three just yet. Baked Askalan looks good. Even if I don't use it in a C&C game, it might(with some tweaking) work pretty well in a game of 50 Fathoms(from Savage Worlds). As for Towers of Adventure, I own it. Hopefully others will flock to J.W.'s wonderful product after reading about it. Nice ad for the 4th phb. Odd letter style makes Barbarian look like Gargarian. hehe And,(only polite nitpicking) the text can't decide whether or not the barbarian/gargarian is primordial, or primoridal. Still need to catch up on all of the Tales of the Rings of Brass, and the stats for the snow steed. From what I've read, not too bad, guys. Except for that U.S. postal service thumb dent-crease from front to back cover.

Of course if you let your subscription run out (like I apparently did) then you will never get them.

Feeling pretty stupid about now.

I finished up reading #19 last night. Another great issue. I have to chime in and say I really like the concept behind the new barbarian as well. Steve's rationale for the class makes a ton of sense. Actually, I was thinking that it would be neat to allow both versions of the class, the old version as a berserker class and the new as a true barbarian class.

The CKG except is fantastic. Steve really has a great writing style (even if his proofreading could use work ). I think the CKG is going to be a hell of a sourcebook.

The Troll Con info might be useful in me making a case for a summer vacation to Little Rock next year.
One small quibble, where is the map for the "Ambushed Times Three" adventure?

No #19 for me, my LGS only had #16 with no ETA on anything more recent.

I guess I should subscribe....
