I'm surpised they're still around, honestly. I thought they bought the farm a while back. Shows what I know. *shrug*

I was kind of looking forward to the City of Heroes RPG, but it went into vaporware status and I kind of forgot about it and Eden a few years ago.

They're still around and at least one of those properties is still hot... All Flesh Must Be Eaten!

I really like Armageddon and Witchcraft. Both are great games.

Easy universal rules which comes in 2 flavours; standard and cinematic, they no longer have the rights to Buffy so their front page is misleading, Witchcraft is a free download at I think RPGnow, maybe Drive thru I forget.

They are very, very slow at getting anything out. Last I heard they still have the rights to City of Heroes but at this point it is definitely a who cares thing. And, it is just a couple of guys doing it part time, which kind of explains the above. Whenever they are asked if they folded or not they always claim to be alive and well but it has been a loooooong time since anything new has come out.

I hear they are nice guys but reaction from the public is waning and if they do put anything out, that is new, I figure it'll just be the hardcore that'll care.

Been awhile since I thought about them so somethings may have changed.

At first I liked Witchcraft and All Flesh Must Be Eaten, and even some elements of Army of Darkness, but I grew disenchanted with the Unisystem and a lot of the writing, but that's not to say it was bad... just not something I found myself wanting to read or play. I am also getting wary of "one system, all genres" games and find I enjoy "limiting" myself at times... makes things more specific.

Yep. I used to do some work for them. (The Grey Elf on the lists here has worked for them, too). I started with their d20 stuff, and then edited for the WitchCraft line. Misfit Studios had an Armageddon license and put out a few well-received things, but then the license was taken away.

Anyway, I like the Unisystem games. The company is indeed run by part-timers, and they do have a hard time getting product out. But they do some cool stuff.

Archipelagos: The War of Shadows I liked and I also have their monster book Liber Bestarius (The Book of Beasts) Which I don't remember to much of, but don't recall it being bad.

I can't speak about their RPGs, but HACK! Card Game and Abduction: The Card Game are both a lot of fun.

HACK! is based of the Knights of the Dinner Table Gang and has a deck for each of the characters - Sara, Brian, Bob, Dave and BA (as GM). The Card play builds a board and the intent is the be the first to find the Hand of Vecna.

Abduction is similiar - you build the board with the cards and try to be the first to escape the Alien ship. They have cut-outs as pieces where you can play a farmer, little girl, even a cow.

A got a good deal on the 5 decks for Hack! and Abduction at Noble Knight.

I agree with Serleran.
Unisystem was, to me, a sort of "White Wolf Light" that certainly fixed some of the more aggregious problems of that system. But it just paled after a while.

I also think they lost a real opportunity by not doing any stand alone adventures (except for a couple in their mag) for AFMBE. Something on the lines of Zombie Run for SW could've done well for the system IMO.

one of the best campaigns I ever ran with with the Conspiracy-X game - loads of fun.

fast, simple "modern" type game.

I certainly got my monies worth from that book.

Cheers,

I was looking forward to seeing the CoH RPG...but gave up after three years of 'we're working on it' and seeing nothing. Hard to get behind anyone that fails to deliver on their commitments.

That was my issue, too, Go0gle. As a player of CoH, I was looking forward to it something fierce. But after the eternal limbo, I lost faith in it ever being produced. And, of course, the iron is not hot now.

I bought one of their books but never played the system. Terra Primate. This book provides a wealth of information for playing anything from Planet of the Apes to Congo. ONe of these days I'll take time to do Planet of the Apes for Savage Worlds.

I always wanted to check out All Flesh Must Be Eaten, but I'm starting to think I could do my own thing with the SIEGE engine. Zombie SIEGE, SIEGE of the Dead or something. Just a thought.

Trust me when I say that this topic has come up more than once and some work has been done to make something like this an eventual reality.

I am reminded of an Oingo-Boingo song... "when the dead start walking, there's no place to hide."

That's great to hear. I'd definitly like to throw some ideas toward that. I'm all about the flesh-eaters.

All this talk about AFMBE has got me wondering about the zombie SIEGE game that is supposed to be coming out.

It should be clarified that there is nothing that has been formally announced and all talk of a Zombie Siege game release is still hypothetical. Should something change and become official, the fans will be among the first to know.

Yes, talks with TLG are underway. Perhaps I'll be able to say more after Troll Con.
Oh, and Serleran....I was thinking about using that line from OB as a quote starting one of the chapters.
Oingo-Boingo songs are great for quotes IMO.

Or the Shriekback song, Nemesis:

Priests and cannibals, prehistoric animals

Everybody happy as the dead come home

Big Black Nemesis, parthenogenesis

No one move a muscle as the dead come home
