Strategy went a bit something like this I bet:

One of you go get the beer.

Drink drink drink.

OK, who has more?

Enlightening, to say the least.

I see Dr. Pepper and Sprite, but no beer. I think the general conception of these guys is way off...*

Mac Golden doesn't exist and you can't prove it.

Can you tell that Zane (behind Steve) is his brother?

*points up* A very brief cameo on my part. Other duties call me this weekend I'm afraid. I'll just have to endure the trials of being up to my eyeballs in cute anime girls.

I have a rough life.

Aaggh. I wouldn't have known Mac Golden to see him. He's definately a signature that's missing from most of my core books. Well, maybe next time.

The new movie will stink, despite having Christopher Eccleston. The 1987 animated GI Joe Movie still rules. And, YO GOE!!!

And that's the only reason I'm going to see it... If Eccleston wasn't there, they wouldn't be getting my money.

I think it will be alright. I hated the older animated movie with a passion. (Cobra-la this!) I think people end up too married to what they think the concept should be.

I was hopeful about the new movie until I saw the "super suits" in the trailer.

That whole "Cobra-La" thing was total crap, I agree... I'm just concerned about the movie because (at least in the previews I've seen) I haven't seen even a glimpse of Cobra Commander. I want a good CC. Also, it looks like G.I. Joe is portrayed as a world organization rather than U.S., which I'm not sure how I feel about.

I will say the Baroness looks good, with no cheesy accent discernible from the brief line I heard her speak in the preview. But I'm still concerned overall. Hopefully the movie will pleasantly surprise me.

I thought they originally had plans to make it some UN-type organization in the movie (they even had "GI Joe" as an acronym for it at one point), but later went back to it being a US group after outcry from fans. That info is all hearsay though, so I don't know if it is true or not.

I don't think a UN connection would bother me, (this coming from someone who calls the UN the 'United Nancy's') as it seems an interesting angle. I am hopeful about this as I was blown away by the Transformers movie. I can say I don't want the cartoon repackaged. I was more of a fan of the comics which I thought were much more realistic compared to the way the cartoon was written.

Yes as a kid I found the GI Joe cartoon unrealistic and dull.

Funny ole world it is. That particular GI Joe is one of my favorite cartoons ever.

Super suits was a big problem for me. I knew there would be early 2000's equipment at the very least, but I wasn't looking iron man outfits. I knew they couldn't totally mimic the early 80's green suit look, but those super suits....eek. Oh well. Ray Park should be cool, and Eccleston should put in a good performance even if the dialogue ends up being as cheesy as it was in the old Flash Gordon movie. He's a British actor, he'll make anything sound good. That's what Dalton, Van Sydow, and Blessed did in FG.

Say what you want about Cobra-La (yeah it was crap, Cobra Commander is one of the best villians ever... when he's a human, that is), but the GI Joe movie was great. Good animation (for the time) and it you haven't seen it in a while, just watch the first 5 minutes. That first part of the GI Joe movie still rawks some kind of fierce.

I will say this for Cobra-La the idea was cool but the execution wasn't. They did inspire some of my concepts for the Atlanteans in my world. I just never thought they fit in the GI Joe universe.
