I swear there was a thread about this somewhere, but my seach revealed nothing.
I'm thinking that one would have to bring in an element of Dark Sun (psionics on a desert planet) and SciFi (lasers, body shields, and jump drives) together into one setting.
Character classes:
* Bene Geseret (perhaps monk-witches)
* Face Dancer (shape shifting assassins)
* Mentat (human computers)
* Nobility (fighter-diplomat)
* Guild Navigator (psionic pilot)
* Suk Doctor (healers)
* Soldiers (Sardaukar, etc)
Character racial options:
* Fremen (desert survivalist)
* People of Ix (some cyber tech)
* Gholas (clones)
I know in the movies that the Guild Navigator turns out to be a blobbo with a huge head who lives in a tank, but when I read the books in the early 1970's I thought of them as psychic humans. This might be easier to role-play.
Has anyone done Dune with C&C? I know that there was the ICON one by LUG and a d20 version floating around the net somewhere, but it seems like C&C would be a lot better than those others.

They're described in the books as being fishlike creatures that float around in tanks full of spice. But, your view of them is certainly more playable.

I'm not sure that C&C would be the best system to use for a Dune Campaign; it would be hard to convert some of the various elements of Dune into the C&C rule system. GURPS would work very well for this type of science fantasy and can really easily simulate groups like the Bene Gesserit, Bene Tleilax and the Sword Masters of Ginaz

I know people that did Dune with Classic Traveller back in that magical time called the 1970s and 80s. I haven't come across any write-ups of adaptations, but it's not something I've looked for. Anything for CT would translate pretty easily to Mongoose Traveller (MGT) pretty easily.
Never played Fading Suns but the descriptions I've seen have always evoked Dune.
Savage Worlds might very well work too and of course has the advantage of being in-print.

I have converted such Fantasy Worlds as Diablo, Shannara, Lone Wolf, and Corona. My experience is that Savage World makes it easy. I have used Dragon Warriors and it was harder than Savage World, but easy going. C&C was the hardest for the conversions, but the most worth while. When I used C&C I had to really analyze classes and their abilities.

Apparently there has been a few attempts, at least unofficially (and maybe one official) to do Dune in a RPG-format, noted here. I voted for option #3, to be honest. I would have voted "I don't know" but that was not an option (and I actually like polls w/o that option for obvious reasons). I don't think that C&C (and probably not even SS) would be a good fit, but maybe GURPS would be...again, for obvious choices.
