Favorite house rule

Post by Traveller »

I will answer this question later myself, but for now let's get the ball rolling on this one.

What is your favorite house rule other than your own?

I like Moriarty's multi-class rules (now that I've found them).

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Mostly the addition of spells, items, and monsters. Nothing specific.

I really like the character background, social class, and starting equipment rules from the Yggsburg book. Too bad the tables are so screwy.

The optional rules for multiclassing and secondary skills are another story...

I want to throw a vote down for this one as well.

It is pretty eye opening in a good way. I would do what he has written out a little differently though... just enough to make a big difference though.

I think it was Treebore (been a while) but somebody sent me a witch and amazon character class write-ups. Those were pretty neat.

I probably sent them to you, but I did not write those up. In fact, it would be nice if I could get copies sent back to me since my computer crashed over a month ago.

Somebody on these boards had the neat idea on how to generate attributes using a grid. 3d6 is rolled and the grid is filled in, in a spcific order. Once the grid is filled with attribute scores, you choose the line of scores you want (much like a bingo board).

These are the rules that I have adopted (and of course modified to taste). If you're interested in this crazy Attribute Matrix Method as I call it, click on the link in my sig. It's there somewhere.

I got them on disc. I'll have to unpack them, so won't be today.

Who did write them?

I do not remember, possibly Traveller. Could be, and probably is, someone who doesn't even come around any more. I believe the on line ID of who wrote them is either in the file name or in the documents themselves.

*laughs*...good luck in trying to enforce that.
I was hoping you guys would be a little more specific in regards to the house rules you like most. When I asked the question, I wasn't thinking in terms of complete sets of house rules, since that has been asked before. I may not have been clear in my intentions, and I am sorry about that. But I'll try to rephrase the question this way: what one single house rule from any particular set of house rules do you like the most?

I like Rigon's rules for rolls of 20 or 1 out of his set of house rules.

I like the idea that was added to my Initiative on a d20 that if they get over a 20 (after lvl and dex bonus added in) then they get to act again at their iniative -20... ie; 23 goes first on 23 and then again on 3.

Just need to look up multiple action penalties.

AslanC,

They were published in "The Campaign Setting: Rules Part 1" in The Crusader Magazine, Issue #12.

PDF copy is dirt cheap and can be ordered from the Troll Store.
