Korgoth of Barbaria

Post by angelius »

For those that care, it looks like it is showing Sunday 10pm on Adult Swim.

I will now cry because I can't get that channel...

Nah... not for me. Korgoth doesn't encompass REH, or at the other end of the spectrum, is even that funny. If you want to see disgustingly violent things happen to cartoon characters, then this show might be for you.

Incase you guys haven't caught it yet. This show is hilarious. From the guy who created Spongebob, with Detrich Bader doing the voice for Korgoth, CN picked this series up for it's Adult Swin lineup. Here's one of many reasons why this show kicks all kinds of ass.

I've seen this and thought it was weirdly funny, but didn't realize it was preview? of a new show. I've got to try and remember to watch it! 8)

I wanted very much to see this. I kicked myself for missing it when it first aired a few months back. So with great anticipation I sat down and watched it tonight.

My thoughts....

Meh.

I was let down. The animation sucked and it wasn't funny. I think it maybe elicited a single, half-hearted chuckle from me at one point, but that was it.

Oh well.

I liked watching it once, but don't think I'd tune in again. For what they're trying to do, though, it's perfect.

Ha. angelius must be on the east coast, as I tuned in at a little before 10 pm (9 pm where I'm at) and only caught the ending. Darn, but after readng your post, maybe I didn't really miss anything!

No problemo (dagnabit I just can't stop myself from using this old expression - but I use it with a ARNOLD voice a la Terminator)! 8)

I was on a Bears win high yesterday, so I'm not so sure that I would have enjoyed the cartoon!

Thanks for the link angelius, that has to be one of the funniest cartoons I have ever seen. The part where he rips the guys skin off then sets him on fire had me in tears !.

I enjoy a good dose of cartoon violence every once in a while... it's no Bugs Bunny, but I thought it was pretty funny.

It's like a parody of Conan parodies viewed through a lense of Thundarr and Itchy & Scratchy.

I'll admit that for my barbarian parody cartoon viewing I prefer "Dave the Barbarian".

Heh, thanks to a tip on DF, I watched it on Youtube (1st episode in 3 parts)!

Weirdly amusing and so I had a few chuckles. It might be better after a couple of glasses of something.
But good enough that I'll watch the next episode to how the show develops!

I am supporting the show because a majority of Adult Swim is pure rubbish. Plus with the creator of Spongebog running the show, the guy who did the voice of Bender doing most of the bad guy's things can only get better. Plus the creator of Samurai Jack helps out. There is a lot of upside to this show.

Of course its rubbish. Adults aren't supposed to watch cartoons.
I'm only joking however. My wife is an anime fan and I give her a hard time about watching "kiddie shows" fairly regular.

I did enjoy some of Adult Swims programming.

Inuyasha: Only through forceable exposure to it though. My wife is a MASSIVE, and I mean MASSIVE fan girl. She even writes fan fiction for it. yes...MASSIVE. After awhile the show kinda grew on me.

Full Metal: I really liked this series.

Samurai Champloo: This just kicked ass.

The Boondocks was kinda clever too.

I was watching for the 2nd episode and it didn't air. Apparently, the next show hasn't been created or isn't scheduled yet.

Korgoth of Barbaria is the best cartoon ever.

But perhaps Korgoth is biased!

I particularly appreciated the old school heavy metal soundtrack intruding at various points. That pushed it over the line from "funny" to "classic".

Incidentally... does anybody know if this is going to be a regular series?

This show is simply one of the best written cartoons I have ever seen, with serious political commentary (that doesn't shove it in your face) combined with comedy that cannot be denied. This show is funny, damn funny and Aaron McGruder is an absolute genius.

Truthfully, I wonder if it'll get stale quickly. It seems that they did a nice send-up of the genre, but to do that over and over again would get to be a bit much.

And honestly, the violence started to wear thin for me too.

I agree. I just don't see much appeal in the show.

And I'm usually the guy who will chuckle at low brow "doodie jokes" and other than the comment about placing the hook in the dude's left t**ti**e, I didn't even grin through Korgoth.

I so wanted to like this show too.

I like it cause it reminds me of one of my player's PC, Ragnar.

And my game tends to have violence like that. Except maybe the skinning part. I like the dark humour.
