What format have you found works best?

Well, BHP uses more than one kind, but I prefer good old line art (digital or scanned) for interior pieces. They work best with the really simple, free program I use for layout.

I prefer hand-drawn and then scanned at a high DPI, saved as a jpg. This so I can easily manipulate its size and characteristics with Paint (I don't believe in Adobe) as needed for my needs.

*snorts* Format people, not media.

TIFF and PSD are the best file formats to submit art. Anyone with any sense, doing professional publishing is using Photoshop for their art and either In Design or Quark for their file layouts.

jpg is about the worst file format one can work with, since, every time one re- saves a jpg it degrades the file.

And don't get me started on Paint.
