Sorry for what might be repeated questions, but I recently discovered the setting and am enjoying the material so far but a few things have stuck out at me.
I have the .pdf version of the Folio and just purchased the Codex book off Amazon, in case your wondering what I'm looking at.
I've read the section on the History of the World, and for the most part I get it, it's just that all of the events seem to occur well beyond the Cradle of the World, yet that is the focus of the material. Or maybe it's just the way I'm looking at it. Aenochia and Ethrum both seem to be well to the north of the Cradle, yet most of the (semi)recent history seems to have occurred there, and their present state is not detailed.
Do the events detailed in the History section of the Folio take place in the Cradele (and the maps just show the Continents not the kingdoms) ?
Also, how would I go about getting permission to print out the maps I bought? Kinkos sometimes has issues printing out copyrighted things without premission from the holder.
Cheers

The "Cradle" is the center of the main maps.
The folio has several sets of maps, one is political, one is the world, then another pair is the cradle. The cradle is the heart of where almost everything happened.
In fact Unklars remaining main forces, and traditional seat of his power, is on the right hand map of the cradle, labeled Aufstrag.
As for permission, calling the Trolls is the best way to get it. Steve hates talking on the phone so you won't use many of your monthly minutes talking to him.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

As Treebore said, just give us a shout and we can work something out.
The boundary between the lands of Ethrum and Aenoch are where the Straights of Ursal.
In the Days before Days the Dwarves ruled and much of the struggles occurred, as you said, off he main maps to the west. However the kinship wars were fought in many of the outlying colonies and some of the most powerful were in the region known as the Cradle of the World. Two of the greatest dwarf kingdoms came to be there: Grunliche Hohle and Norgorad-Kam. They tunneled everywhere and left many dungeons and the like. When the smiths of Norgorad-Kam found the Rings of Brass they did so from this area and that too led to importance of this region.
With the fall of the Dwarves the center of the world's gravity shifted from the west to the Cradle of the World because of the rise of the Aenochians and the city of Al Liosh (now Aufstrag). The Aenchian Empire rose from that city, this in no small part due to the rise of sorcery in that city and its mastery by the wizards. During the first age of men the sorcerers came to power and magic became commonplace. The worlds most powerful sorcerers and even some of its Kings came from this region.
The center of gravity remained there when Unklar was summoned and remains there still and this is where you see much of the action in the latter stages of the Codex taking place.
But in short the Cradle is the cradle of magic in Aihrde and fosters it still; and this is built upon a host of ancient dwarven dungeons, goblin holes and the like.
Hope that helps.
Steve
ps: the lands of Ethrum and Aenchia (the geographic ones) intersect at the Straights of Ursal and go on a north-south axis. They are political-geographic lines, not geologic ones if that makes sense.

This is why TLG needs to get the accursed CKG done, and out the door so that the Troll Lord can work his runes of creation upon Aihrde!
