[PHB.4] Still not in stores.

Post by CharlieRock »

This is starting to get really silly. And why is TLG even taking orders for personalised PHBs (that I would love to have but need to see the new stuff to include rules on them)???

I don't care what is done with the CKG material. Honestly. Doesn't matter to me one whit that itn't even on the horizon.
Why isn't the PHB on store shelves yet

For what it's worth, the ONLY place I've ever seen TLG books around here in PA is at Phantom of the Attic's RPG half of their stores. I've never walked into anywhere else such as Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc. and found them on the shelf. Even my local comic store only stocks 4e D&D and Pathfinder along with some other games like Warhammer 40K and a small selection of 3.x D&D stuff. That's why I just went the direct route and ordered straight from TLG via Paypal, even though it cost me more in the long run.

Probably cause it was only shipped out a week or so ago, and not every store carries C&C material.
One needs to include transit time from the TLG offices, to the distributors, to the stores.

Sometime big distributers when they get a shipment in, takes a week or even more to catelogue and update their database. Sometimes, hobby distributers that get a product into the warehouse also don't update their representatives immediatly either. In these cases you'll have to tell your FLGS to ask directly for the specific item number TLG 80104. That might help expedite.

My local FLGS tried to order from ACD (hobby distributer) on Friday 9 October and they still didn't have it in yet.

Sometimes, us fellow messageboard readers have to realize that we hear about these awesome items here first, and the parent company has not even gotten them out to distribution yet. And who knows, if TLG ships product directly from the printer to distributers the dist. might have to take other steps that can take a few days or weeks.

Hey Charlie,

Per today's news flash on the front of the site www.trolllord.com

Looks like the estimate is about 10 days till they hit shelves by the estimate of how they shipped to distributors.

A little longer but on the way....

And sometimes a local store won't buy a new printing of a book until they sell out of the previous printing.

more email these days, but if the store has problems after the times described here pass, do contact him as there can be problem with the distributors (I met a buyer at an FLGS not long ago who complained to me about getting the PHBs and Steve was glad to hear of the problem...)

Hey Charlie,

When the printer prints a book, they ship two shipments. One comes to Little Rock, Arkansas where we are. The other goes to the consolidated warehouse. The shipment time is 2 days to both locations. However, the consolidated warehouse only announces new product on Thursday. That Thursday, in this case 8th.

Once it is announced as available, the distributors put their orders in to begin shipping on the following Monday. In this case the 12th. Shipping patterns are for the furthest out shipping first so that each distributor has a good chance of getting the product on the same day. Foreigns on Monday, East/West coast on Tuesday and so on. Orders will continue to come in all week as different distributors have different ordering patterns (there are 56 of them I believe). But late orders go to the back of the line.

The distributors will begin filling pre-orders the moment they get their books in, which could be anywhere from 2-4 days depending. Then the distributors have to ship the product to the retailers, usually a 1-2 day ship.

The majority of this shipping is done by UPS which I don't think delivers on Saturday or Sunday. For all shipping estimate you have to exclude those days.

TLG has an aggressive pre-order system, or we attempt to; shipping books as they come in and not when they are made available for the channel is SOP around here.

So the books are shipping to distributors now, and will begin shipping to retailers this week.

Orders are very strong. Almost topping the 1st printing out the gate numbers. If you are buying from a store, and we STRONGLY encourage this, expect them to say that their distributor is saying OUT OF STOCK.

It is not, and won't be until you hear it here on the boards, from me or some other knuckle headed troll.

Steve

And that is the best news to hear. I know at my FLGS there are two pre-orders in for PHB1.4.

No,The close door was rather silent. This store was the only LGS that consistently carried TLG products. Bought my first 2 phb there, M&T, Yggsburgh, and few mods too.
