I'm FREEEEE!

Post by Go0gleplex »

Those whom have been attending chat the last several months are pretty up on the situation I've been in at work. Well, things finally came to a head yesterday and as a result, my position is being phased out and I am being officially layed off. While the long term view sort of has me more than a tad nervous...the sense of immediate relief is akin to being let out of solitary confinement after an extended period.

This of course means that I will be giving up my house and moving to a more urban area sometime in the next month or so...but as of now, I'm FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I felt similarly when I got out of the Navy.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Glad to hear you're getting out of that wretched situation and hope you can find something more suitable soon.

It's always nice to get out of a bad work situation... so I'm happy to hear that for you... and I hope you find something profitable and more enjoyable very soon.

Unemployment was recently extended again, so you can be free for a LONG time!

Gratz!

Cheers! Glad the stressful job is over for you. Hope the long term plans work out as desired too. What urban area you moving to? Portland could always use some more C&C folks.

Sad to say, I know exactly what you mean. "So stay here, in the hell you've made for me or be unemployed in a craptastic economy. ... ... Is this a trick question?"

If you're happy then it's good news!

I don't recall the details, but a bad work environment is no place to be.

all the best!

Congrats, Go0gle! I was in a bad place once - getting the short end of the stick at work, getting the crap jobs, and my coworkers being told by my boss not to help me with any of the jobs, either. I think he wanted me to quit. I don't know your situation, hoss, but if it was a bad working environment I can tell you that I can sympathize with the elation of being out of a crappy job. I didn't have any backup plan, no money saved, but damn, I was happy!

Thanks guys. Short of things were my boss had it out for me and their handling of things was just shy of harassment and outright abuse. Not sure what I'll be doing...and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad nervous about things, but my first priority is getting my mental feet back under me.

Dachda, we're looking at the Sherwood area at present. Not sure where we'll end up exactly though.

Good luck with wherever you may find yourself. At least the stress is mostly gone.

Y'know, a family member sent me a text much like the title of this thread when she was laid of from a crappy company!

Enjoy the fresh air a bit, Go0gleplex, and may you swiftly find the job of your dreams.

While I'm wishing you well, might as well wish you big, eh?

Man, I felt exactly the same way. I took the time and did just that - relaxed, both physically and mentally. It was nice not to have the stress of a job to worry about. When you're ready, I'm sure you'll be back on the horse, ready to ride.
