Is there any way that someone who has OG&M can take a few pics/scans of some random pages and throw them on ImageShack or some other such photo hosting site? I would like to see the layout and a random page or two before I buy it to make sure it's what I expect. You can blur out the text or stat blocks if any are on the page so as not to break any copyrights, or even just zoom out the pic so it's a smaller representation so as not to be readable.

Also, are there lists of domains in the book for clerics? I thought it said at one point that domains were included but now I see it says "rituals" instead on the product page. Thanks in advance!

haha. A post about OG&M and the only things you guys have on your mind is dice? haha. And yeah, those are some Game Science deece. I only use Game Science deece, for the most part when playing C&C. I think there are some old D&D box set d6s in there as well as one Q-Workshop d6.

Now I shall bore you with my dice story.

Those Game Science dice I bought from the great Lou Zocchi himself during his last GenCon before he retired. I thought it right to upgrade some dice from one of history's great gamers, and a fixture in our hobby. Plus, the color was nice.

In case you can not tell from the pictures, the book is broken down into chapters by pantheon. Within each pantheon various deities are discussed. The following info is given for each deity: A graphical depiction of the deity, Name, symbols, deity province, ceremonies, taboos, and granted abilities, brief description for the deity, the stats for the deity's avatar and two artifacts associated with the deity. Then within each pantheon there are unique spells given for casters within that pantheon, and then new monsters related to the pantheon.

I think the book is well organized and the material presented in a concise format. All of the information in the book is easy to reference at a latter date. The sheer amount of information crammed into the 162 pages of this book is impressive.

Some of the material may seem to be unbalancing, but that can be cured with enforcement of taboos and ceremonies as well as be allowing NPCs to have access to similar ability/items. The book is certainly not "core" so pick and choose what to use. I am waiting until my players enter higher levels before I introduce some of the material in this book into my campaign.

Aside from a few editing errors, the book is excellent. I understand that most of those errors were caught and corrected before the final book went to print. I am really impressed with the organization of the book.

Two thumbs up.

nwelte1;

Thank you very much for your well reasoned and logical thoughts on my book. These projects are never easy to start or complete and it was a pleasure to see your thoughts on my book.

Now I may have to pick this up...

Aside, I googled game science and got an education on dice from the Colonel himself! I had no idea about most of that stuff! I just thought the sharp edges were "old school" and the rounded ones were "new school", never thought about the uneven sides and such. so that was a real eye-opener.

Haha, the famous Lou Zocchi sales pitch. That info you read Relaxo you could hear the Colonel himself reciting over and over any time you saw him at a convention.

Is the Troll Con version much different, or is it effectively the same? I figure the only changes are the loss of color plates and maybe some minor textual changes thanks to errata.

How helpful will this book be if I want to design my own pantheon? Or perhaps use one not included, such as the gods of Harn? Would it be easy to equate a deity from this book to one not included in it (such as Mars = Agrik or something like that for Harn?)

Any word on when the hardcover will be released?

It's looking like the Hardcover OG&M will not be for a good, long while (if ever). Hope to one day see this as a hardback resource book as well.

I think this kinda' proves my point that posting a small preview PDF on the site can generate extra sales from those of us "on the fence" about certain products.

I would be curious to know if there are any differences between the Troll con version and the new one as well. After all my troll con version has Jim Ward's Sig and all wold hate to ruin the intrinsic value of such and heirloom.

It will likely have a bar code.

People on the MBs talked a little about errata being included, as well as a new preface by Steve Chenault, but nothing definative from the Trolls regarding this. As one who also has Troll Con edition of OG&M, it would be neat to know.

No real difference. We swapped one picture out (the TC version has the one eyed giant in it with two eyes, this release has the one eyed giant with one eye) and there is some very minor text edits.

So no real need to pick this one up.

Have the pre-orders shipped yet? I'm fairly certain that a few more days of me perched atop my mailbox like a vulture will result in the mail lady calling the law on me.

She tazered me friday.

There are certainly plenty of examples to look at when working up your own pantheons or expanding the ones included. The thing to remember is that while gods themselves are described in terms of their areas of interest (warfare, fertility, the Sun, etc.) the gods themselves aren't statted out. Instead one has stats for avatars of the gods - manifestations in the material plane. The gods themselves cannot be harmed, much less killed, by even the most powerful of mortals.

In any case, it's not hard to locate an example or two from various pantheons that are close to what you're trying to recreate to use as starting points in defining things yourself.

I did something like this to write up Corwin of Amber from the Roger Zelazny books here: http://www.freeyabb.com/trolllordgames/ ... llordgames

I just received my copy today in the mail. I came home from the gym this morning and it was waiting for me on the table! I will post impressions later. I can't wait to read this! I was impressed that it arrived in perfect condition too, not one crease or bend. USPS must be getting slightly better in their handling of packages.

Got mine in the mail today. Have to say I love it!! Best Deities book in any iteration of D&D IMO. I like how Jim proposes and shows how Gods can be more helpful to characters. Thanks Troll's!!! Thanks Jim!!!

I got mine in the mail last week, but the Post Office somehow manage to crack and bend the binding along the spine. So now I have a warped edged binding with a 1/2 inch tear/split right in the middle of the spine of the book. Not happy with the USPS.
On a good note, now that I have had time to look through it, I really am glad I bought it. Good stuff inside.
I do have one question: Are any of you all considering giving the god-like attribute abilities (p. 6) to anyone who is able to get their attributes up this high? Or are you going to just allow the deities to have these? I am going to use the bonuses (+4 to +10) and I am considering the STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, and CHR special abilities as well.

Mine had too much glue on the binding, bulging the cover along the spine. But, it is a table copy and bound to get f'ed up anyways.

If they ever get them that high in my campaign I guess maybe I would. I'd cross that bridge at the time.

Another Subject:

The stat bonuses from the Roman Pantheon seem a little much, so I am making them bonuses to attribute checks and saves. Also the 0th level Roman spell is a bit over the edge (especially compared to higher level illusionist spells). Do not know what I am going to do with it yet.

In the games I run, this attribute bonus chart is going to be for any person who can attain those attribute scores, Gods or mortals.
