Troll attacks.

The troll entry in M&T states that it can make 2 Claw, Bite or weapon. This means the troll can either make 2 claw attacks OR a bite attack in a single round correct?

Also, if given a weapon it can only make one attack with the weapon correct?

So what kind of a weapon suits the troll and what should it damage be?

My understanding is that the troll can attack with both claws and bite in the same round like its AD&D cousin. If using a weapon it would only attack once with it per round.

As far as the type of weapon goes, I would think any of the bigger weapons from the players handbook would be appropriate. I would let them wield a two handed weapon in one hand, though.

Dagger is correct. ((2*claw) + bite) OR (weapon). It's the same way for all monsters capable of either natural attacks or weapon use.

Depends on just how "mean" you want to be as a CK. The weapon-wielding Troll is a decent enough opponent and all ... but, the 2 claws can cause Rending damage.

I think it's just a simple bit of errata that the word OR is not included just before 'WEAPON (+3)'. If you want to go literal BTB, than a troll would get 2 claws, 1 bite AND 1 weapon (which is what I usually do).

Omote, my problem with this is simply, if the Troll is making two claw attacks, and one bite attack, then how are they wielding a weapon?

Hum... either opposable thumbs on their feet, or they have to be really careful when sitting.

Originally, specific punctuation was to be used to determine AND / OR -- the comma was an AND while a semicolon was an OR. So, something with Claw (2), Bite; Weapon would mean 2 claws AND a Bite; or 1 Weapon.
