News from the Troll Dens

Post by Troll Lord »

Hey folks,

Alright lots of news here. As the Players Handbook makes a deeper drive into the overall market we've hit some critical milestones and decisions.

CKG: I have turned these files back over to Davis. This book will be finished when it is finished. TLG will not succumb to the pressure of releasing this book in a hurried manner, or one inferior to its intent and design. I do not have a revised schedule for this at the moment.

Backlogs: The back log of material is actually smaller than I thought, but in order to maintain our position in the market place and to build upon it we have to move forward. Even as Davis is working on the CKG when he can I and everyone else will begin addressing long standing issues of what to do with books such as Malady of Kings, the Codex of Erde, Lion in the Ropes, Winter, Blood Royal etc. I will begin working on the conversion of these even as I write new material and work on the back log. This includes items officially in the schedule such as Halls of Adventure and those not yet officially entered such as Pulp Siege.

New Material: Up first is Monsters of Aihrde. I have been working on this for several weeks and will continue to do so. Along with this we have a host of new Crusader magazines, the Pulp Siege game, Comrades (which now that I am off the CKG I am looking at again) and various others. I'm going to try to bring the discussion forums up to date as some of you have no doubt noticed.

One Pony Show: C&C is are major winning title. But with the loss of Gygax and d20 as well as our fiction line of books TLG has relied solely on C&C. The system has done admirably, but it is foolish for us to continue to do this. We will look to expanding the number of games we support and games we publish.

C&C Society: The chat room is up and running, but we have yet to expand the other facets of the Society. Look to that very soon. All files have been submitted to Game Hermit and they should be uploaded soon. Society members will be given a membership discount, so when you register you enter your number, get a coupon and the discount at purchase (at least this is the way we intend to work it out, but there is many a slip between a cup and a lip).

Pulp Siege: Pulp Siege will be called Pulp Siege.

Crusader: We are going to be begin a vigorous subscription drive next week, around the first.

PDF: Copies of the new MT, PH and Gods will release next week in all channels. The books will be slated as new releases not updated copies. The new material will be posted on our website for FREE, but in abbreviated form on or around the 1st of November.

Long Live the Troll!

Steve

Thanks for all the hard work, Steve. If it means anything, I nominated you for "Gaming Guest of Honor" for next year's Con on the Cob.

Onward with the Crusade!

Don't sweat the inevitable cries of anguish about the CKG - someone was going to be unhappy no matter what decision you made. Sounds like you're doing the things that make the most sense to keep the company going forward.

Looking forward to a rousing end of 2009 and a great 2010!

Far as I understand it, its a kind of post apocalyptic type of game.

I think there's a small empty spot at that 11 o'clock position of your plate there Steve.
Good to here things are starting to slide forward again.

Other systems, you say? As I recall(unless I'm mistaken), the Savage Worlds license is free. C&C should be the primary focus for your fantasy products, but branching out a bit may be necessary. I think. I can wait for that CKG. Personally, I'm happy to buy loads of mod's, Crusader mags, and what not. Keep it coming.

Savage Worlds, though pretty cool, would not be a good idea. Both C&C and Savage Worlds are excellent rules-light type of games. The last thing I think they would want is to compete with itself -- even if you were using Savage Worlds to promote a different genre.

Maybe. If so, I will still make Ruins and Radiation, simply because I want to. I expect to have it available sometime next year, due to unforeseen events with not getting the ability to print it until then. Oh well.

Is the monster book going to be Serl's fabled second monster book? (Crosses fingers)

Hopefully that would be M&TII. The one Steve is talking about is M&T of Aihrde. Though not sure if Serl has anything to do with M&T Aihrde or not.

I think WOTC still owns GW, so a license from them would likely need to be obtained.

So MA is far more likely, depending on how Jim's license with the 4E folks reads.

Love to see any of the monster books... especially Leach Wyrms...come to light. Critter diversity, particularly those suited for lower levels helps keep things from becoming; "what...goblins again? How many THIS time?"

Too true! Sometimes people just do not want to convert monsters from other games, no matter how simple it is to do.

This is another reason I am really looking forward to Monsters & Treasure of Aihrde, diversity in monsters for sure but moreso becuase of the uniqueness of the creatures of Aihrde. The Creatures of Aihrde articles in the pages of the Crusader are just so awesome. Really makes my mouth water for M&TA

Steve's writing the whole of Monsters of Aihrde, so I understand.

Nope, I have nothing to do with anything of Aihrde, though it would be fun to be involved. Steve, to my knowledge, and for the betterment of the setting, keeps it close to him... that's good, since he knows the world best. I know if I had one I'd been using for 20-whatever years I might not want to just hand over something to some serl-hack.

Well lets see.

Harvesters, one plays animal characters.

Basic is more geared towards the typical fantasy tropes, but in a form aimed at young kids.

It is good to see you guys have a plan.

I'm also glad to see that the CKG will continue to be developed at its own pace to be what it was originally envisioned to be.

I must admit, the idea of TLG supporting another system is intriguing.

Ok, let me rephrase that.... Harvester is for kids and based on C&C. Basic is for kids and based on C&C.

Other than the races, will they be 'compatible'? Other differences?
