Ok, let me rephrase that.... Harvester is for kids and based on C&C. Basic is for kids and based on C&C.
Other than the races, will they be 'compatible'? Other differences?
I don't foresee anything major as far as differences go. The fundamental operating system of the siege engine is in both.
Far as I can tell, there's no reason one cant use C&C basic, Harvesters, and the current C&C based systems all in one big bundle if one wishes.

Interesting stuff. I'm also anxious to see what other stuff will be published. I wouldn't mind, to be honest, to see TLG put forth some Pathfinder material, maybe a conversion of some of their stuff. Probably won't happen, but it'd be nice nonetheless. Glad to hear you guys are taking your time on the CKG, but dang if I'm not jonesin' for this to come out!

I would agree with what Peter said! You could mash it all together and have something like Narnia quite easily! Since it's C&C and uses the Siege, it should be a problem at all.

Good news all around. As far as expanding the available games, I am looking forward to Harvesters, as I believe that my six year old daughter will dig this, and looking forward to the basic set for my 11 year old son as a gift. Even C&C appears too daunting to him to tackle on his own.
As far as expanding to support other games (I am assuming this means games other than TLG?), I find that intriguing as well. I would suggest Savage Worlds, despite others saying that it would compete with CnC as a rules light game. On the contrary, I have both and play both. Each is very different in flavor and appproach. C&C is the perfect d20 hybrid of old school retro with unique features (ie Siege). For D20 folks you have CnC. For the audience that detests any semblence to D&D and all things D20, you have SW. Especially those that love skill based games.
Hang on to your shorts, but I am suggesting Pathfinder support as well, though I am not sure if licensing would be too costly or not. In short, TLG did 3x for some time, and really doesn't need to do much with old products to convert it to Pathfinder. After GenCon's Pathfinder frenzy, I suspect it may be a lucrative way to go. Then, as to D20, you can offer the rules heavy approach of Pathfinder, and the rules light approach with C&C.
As to other ideas, I am ALL ABOUT seeing a Seige Gamma World come out. This last year, I got the rpg book Mutant Future by Goblinoid Games and dig it, though it feels a little incomplete. I would like to see a TLG version of Gamma World, especially with Jim Ward on hand to bring it some love.

I'm definitely into this too. Though I have to admit, I may just convert the Omega World mini-game into C&C instead. That one was probably about as much as I needed.
* Pathfinder instead of d20 (just update prior d20 stuff; should be quick and easy....
* Savage Worlds instead of Lejendary Adventures for a skills based game
Although then new stuff could be:
* And add HackMaster Basic/Advanced to capture the AD&D crowd...
* Harvester & Basic to bring in new blood
....
Now if the CKG has some HMB ideas converted to Siege as advanced siege options....
Just spitballing here but guessing that, with Comrades a project Steve has mentioned before and now again that that will be the TLG-focus for post-apocalyptic, and certainly Serl is doing one also, so between that and the Gamma license I would doubt a "Gamma Siege" would ever be on the plate, but again that's just my little opinion...
I do think there's some interesting opportunites perhaps with both Pathfinder and Hackmaster for some non-C&C support (and the Kenzer guys are a good crew to be sure)
Point taken about C&C competing against its self with Savage Worlds. That's the last thing I would want. I love both systems, and certainly want both of them to maintain their distinct flavor.
