New map - outdoor with tower
This map will be used in the upcoming Noises from the Shadows. It's an outdoor winter encounter. The tower was inhabited by an alchemist. Coming soon is the tower interior and the integration of the other two levels of the small dungeon started in a different thread.
Ruined Tower PDF - file is 3.7MB and prints out on 4 - 8 1/2 x 11 pieces of paper but it's a fast site so it shouldn't take too long.

Very nice map, I notice the Dundjinni logo.
I recently picked it up myself. I was wondering... did you go for any (many) of the additional art packs?
Maybe I should re-phrase the question.
For the maps you have come up with so far, are you using an additional artpacks are pretty much sticking to the base?

I've made sure to use only the user art packs so I can post and use in adventures. The logo requirements are part of the licesning agreement, i.e. if you are going to produce material you have to include the dunginni logo.

Well, all I have to say is .... NICE!
I've got the User Collections and a few other user created packs. I actually bothered to pick up the classic dungeon set (the one with the different EULA) which are only really good for the reference maps... Since some of the maps are not for publication and just free distribution among friends and such, I was condering the Temple / Town / Castle packs but I'm still going through the user packs and 're-evaluating' if I will or not.
It's nice to see what you've been doing with the program!

Well the characters are coming along nicely for the Noises from the Shadows adventure. There will be 6 pregen's (see sample below). Most of the maps are done and the rest of the pregen's will be done by next week (gotta make time for actual playing this week:) ).
Later and good gaming!

Note this is a draft - I've caught the typo's and have not added the copyright or art info.
What I'm looking for is feedback on the formatting. These will be the pregens handed out to players. I'm really going for an intro to C&C and keeping the characters as straightforward as possible.
The flip side of each of these characters will have a short background, what you know about the other pc's and how you got to where you are at.
They will be remeniscient of classic RPGA scenarios in their style and setup.

It's been slow going. I had a bad memory DIMM in my main PC that put me down for a month. I'm in IT and I am the worst at fixing my own stuff. I just used my old PC and my laptop until I finally couldn't take it anymore. I'm running on 1/2 memory for the next day or so but I figure I should be able to get a character a day done and then go into my notes for the adventure.
I'll use the art to also make paper mini's for the PC's and include them in the final product.

That sounds awesome! Sorry to hear about your computer problems, though. Seems like the cheaper PC's get, the more maintenance and repair is required. It makes a twisted kind of sense...
At any rate, when do you think the 128 page primer mentioned on your site will be available. Even though I know it hasn't been released yet, I keep going back to your site because everything looks so damn cool...lol
Keep up the great work!!

Rough development has been done on the main chapters. So far I've got:
History
Geography
Politics
Religion
Magic
Each one is only clocking in at 10-15 pages so the overall book may be somewhat shorter than the 128 pages. Although I have to add Monsters, Persona's and maps yet so it may come out somewhere near target.
With the month delay I'm looking at December or January. The current order of production will be the two adventures first. They will help define the setting. I'm planning on running them at LGCC so that's really my compelling event.

Thanks - it's really just a riff on the original, golden-rod character sheet. Now I really have to shrink the tiffs, pngs, and other graphic elements so I can get the size down.

Tangent alert:
Previously in this thread I mentioned a crash of my main PC (bad memory DIMM that took about 4 hours to troubleshoot) which I use to create all this stuff. In real life I'm an IT person and I'm the worst at taking care of my own hardware.
After 28 days I finally broke down and troubleshot my own issue. I got on the phone with support and even when I told them exactly what the problem was I had to satisfy all of the damn RMA request criteria.
So I'm roughly a month behind. The target is now for December and the primer may be less than 128 pages. The toughest part is learning the mapping software. Layout's easy. The content is pretty straightforward. I mean in all reality it's a fantasy heartbreaker setting but I don't think that's a bad thing.
My main goals with the first two adventures is to provide new players with some premade characters, have some fun with the system, and showcase to previous BECMI, 1st, 2nd and 3rd edition players just how fun the system can be.
The primer will hearken back to the old Greyhawk folio. Somewhat more coherent but still just a framework to lay whatever you want over the top.
Thanks for the comments.

I could make a blank Adobe form with font included.
These products (I use that term loosely) will be free. I don't have a license with Troll Lords - these are just fan made. Call it a practice run. I've been looking for a license, preferably OGL or some variation there-of, for the last year or so. The last license I looked at was doing a d20 version of The Arcanum from Bard Games. This was a few years prior to Morrigan Press picking it up. Since then I've been learning and dabbling in layout and design.
All of the work I'm doing now is for fun but I'll use whatever I learn from doing it to someday produce for sale items.

I may have missed you saying this, but where is the PC art coming from?
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

No you haven't missed it. The proofs, if you will, have not yet been properly credited. Once I add the copyright info and compile them into their final format all the art credits will be added.
The Taern logo = my creation + some clipart from www.clipart.com (the train of horsed men)
Sword and swords/shield art is from www.clipart.com
The grey frame is from a Stock Art collection from the esteemed Ed Bourelle/Skeleton Key - found at http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php? ... ts_id=3392&
Coddyn is from the RDP: Fantasy Figures Vol 2 by Mark Huffman - http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=7610&
Danus is from the RDP: Fantasy Figures Vol 1 by Aaron Henson: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php? ... ts_id=7247&
Valedar is from The Forge Rogues Gallery Vol 1 Maciej Zagorski: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=7609&
Plus I have a ton of stock art from Ronin Arts, LPJ Design, Rick Hershey, and many many more. It's affordable, looks good, and is cheaper than hiring a fulltime artist:).
I'm not above hiring commission work though if the need arises.

I'm not a pro by any stretch of the word. [Doug Doug]I'm a hobbyist gamer[/Doug Doug].
I currently use:
Layout Microsoft Publisher 2003 and Scribus 1.3.3.2.
Image Software: The GIMP 2 and Macromedia Fireworks 4.x
PDF Creation: PDF995
Mapping Software: Dunjinni and CC3 (which I'm pushing through)
Since I'm not a pro my requirements are pretty low.

Well, since you're looking for some feedback...
Overall I'd say it's pretty nice. The formatting things that I would change:
Shift: Armour Worn, and Shield to be under the Shield. That way Other can be its own column, and you can have more than 1 item.
Class/Racial/Special Abilities: Given that C&C in general is pretty light on the overall total number a character is probably going to have, I think it's cleaner to have each ability on its own line. That way it's easier to scan the block of text if need be, and there's room for a quick little hint as to what the specific ability can do. Also, this allows for something like Thief abilities, or your Paths to have a "main" heading and then indent for the actual specifics. Having everything run together like it seems they are, causes me to glaze over a bit when reading the list.
I might also be tempted to take the oval graphic you're using for the "Taern" and rework it slightly. Leave the horses where they are, drop the name onto the same line as the "land of myth and magic" and put the Character name in place of the "Taern". Given it's location right above the character portrait, that kind fits better to me.
Alternatively, perhaps dropping that oval into the bottom right corner of the sheet, and then using the same background parchment made smaller for the name. Something to help pull it out from the stat background. Or duplicate the oval, drop it to the bottom of the character picture centered, and place the character name centered above the picture in the duplicate oval.
This is the best overall sheet layout that I've seen though. I _really_ like it a lot. I had just sat down last night to try and figure out something I liked more than a retread of the usual style sheets, and started hashing something out. This morning, I came across this and thought, "Yup! That's what I'm liking!"
Great job!
