OK I admit it, I really dislike animated avatars.

Seriously, they are distracting and annoying.

Now I'm not here to ask anyone to remove their avatar, as I know you wouldn't... but even still I wouldn't ask, everyone likes to be a individual.

It isn't just here it is all the forums I visit.

There are a couple of options for us, "Hate on for animated avatars" to alleviate the headaches from them.

The first is to turn off avatars on the forum your on. Now, I personally don't like it because I am visual and it is nice having avatars so I know who is posting through their avatar.

The second option suits me better. I was told that all you have to do is press Escape (Esc) and it'll stop all the animated avatars on that page. Now, you do have to do this every time you change pages but I certainly don't mind as the minor inconvenience far outweighs having to watch animated avatars.

I also understand that you can use Firefox's Adblock to do this also, but I haven't tried it and really don't know how to do it. Maybe I'll give it a go and if it is a permanent option I'll go that route.

Do not get this confused with hate for animated avatars = hate of member with animated avatars. It is more like being in a room with a smoker. He lights up and you have to breath his smoke even though you don't want to. Nothing against the smoker.

Haha. Nothing wrong with speaking your mind, Ironside!
But, if I could get Eric animated and have him pimp slapping Sheila, I would!

I thought this thread was about gods who appear as Bart Simpson or Hank Hill. That, I find distracting.

Seems like I can't find any "small" url links. Any suggestions as to how I could downsize it?

Ya, pull it into photoshop and make it smaller.

I found one that looks like it works. Besides, I don't have Photoshop, I think. I just upgraded to WIN 7. Maybe Paint would do it too?

Gimp is an open source image editor/creator/etc. that should also do the trick.

Flickr has a neat online editing thing too (Most of those kind of services do these days).

If you took the time to actually read my post, you'd quickly find out that it had nothing to do with you caring.

Think personal PSA and that might alleviate your troubles.

Yeah, photobucket has many tools that you can fool around with your picture without much of a learning curve.

I would also recommend GIMP, which is free and almost as good as Photoshop for EVERYDAY stuff (like image resizing). Photoshop is obviously far superior for stuff that a pro artist like Pete Bradley would be doing. Another excellent windows free photo option is Paint .Net.

Try it. You'll like it. You'll never see popup ads or forum spam again. You can disable it whenever you like, or just for particular sites. You can right click on any images (like all of Treebore's avatars ) and choose to block them, with a choice of blocking the particular image or by selecting from filters that will strain out a variety of forms of the address (i.e. you could screen everything from tinypic, or just the person's folder there, etc.)

Even better is something called "Nuke Anything". You can right-click on ANYTHING on a web page and select "remove object". GONE! Unfortunately it's not persistent, so you'd have to do it for each page, and sometimes things like flash are embedded requiring several clicks. But you can do it.
