Forgive me but isn't the dice mechanic somewhat odd?

If I understand correctly;

You roll 3d6 plus mods to reach a target number.

One of the dice is the Dragon Die that tells you how well you succeeded (should the TN be met).

But since the Dragon Die contributes to reaching the TN, it means the higher the TN, the higher the Dragon Dice is likely to be, so the more likely your success was spectacular.

i.e., the tougher the job, the more likely you only succeed spectacularly.

I suppose that could be the plan from the start.

I suppose you could argue that is the way it should be, although I'd think it more ealistic that the tougher the job, the more likely you just made it.

Possibly the increasing skill modifiers balance out the Dragon Die needing to increase as jobs get tougher.

As you may detect, I don't know the full details of the mechanic, so I'm likely to be talking out of my rear....again!

The "Average" TN is supposed to be 11 - that means that the other two dice could be a pair of fives or sixes.

Nope, I am looking to run it as is. Besides, if I want to run it using C&C I can, its as easy to adapt for me as 3E itself is. Easier, actually.

I am all sunshine and happiness today. Not only did I get my copy this morning, but the Green Ronin website says they have two more adventures coming out before the second boxed set is issued.

Beyond the GM Kit and Blood in Ferelden, or are those the two you speak of?

Yeah, our 2nd session of DA will be tuesday. Great game.

After the first session, my wife liked it enough I had to get a 2nd box set so she could have her own Player's Guide at the table.

I was interested in this when I heard about it initially, but then I heard that it was going to be for 4e, a system which I do not play, I forgot about it. I happened back upon this game, did a little research, and found that it wasn't for 4e afterall. I've since ordered it through my FLGS and await for its arrival.

Very well worth getting LD. Simple, fast paced system. The Dragon Dice mechanic adds a nice layer to the game and the stunt system makes combat a blast.

My players did the character creation 100% by the book. 3d6 attribute rolling straight down the line, get to swap one if you want to. The fully random character generation (with backgrounds receiving random bumps as well) was a nice thing to see and my players were satified with what they rolled up.

Can't speak good enough on the game. A true gem.

No, those are the two adventures I was referring to, DD.

We've done two sessions of this game now, with the 2nd session being a little more combat intense so we got a better feel of the mechanics. We're still giving this game two big thumbs up.

The attribute check mechanic works just as well as the SIEGE mechanic as far as the ease of use in adjudicating just about anything. What started off as a "one off" game for us is taking shape as a long term campaign so far. I already told my players that for the time being, I'm only awarding minimal XP per session in order to keep them in pace with the release of the box sets.

Yeah the bummer is that we have to wait til the summer to see set 2 and the ability to use the class specializations.

Yeah, but I've plotted it out for us and with 3 sessions a month I should be able to make the first 5 levels last until set two gets here. Doesn't stop me from wanting to see set 2 now though.

I like this game as well. I just doubt I will ever play it.

The World and the video game are awsome.

After I play the video game allt he way through I can see creating the world to play in with C&C and even buying Tainted lands to use with it.

C&C + Tainted Lands + Knowledge from the game or from http://dragonage.wikia.com seems like it would rock.

Yeah, it probably would work, ogre. I actually like the system. I've been reading it over the last couple of days since I picked it up and I have to say, it's pretty good.

Now, of course, the setting could be played with C&C. I think it'd be easy actually. The box set actually has a sweet map that comes with it, plus some good info on the setting.

I've been interested, but when my players saw it, they were like "Well for all that, we might as well stick to CnC." Which is funny because they grumble about the game half the time.

I get the impression that they'd grumble about any game they'd play though, just to get my goat.

Perusing the adventure now.
