Mystara will be resurrected?

Post by mostrojoe »

Do you think that Troll Lord Games will take in consideration the idea to give the wonderful Mystara Knwn World a chance on the market today?

An updated timeline, new twists and a careful treatment in TLG style?

Or do you think that, being Ahirde the default world of TLG, this will be virtually impossible?

Seeing as Wizards of the Coast own the rights, and are not seemingly interested in licensing it, I think, even if the Trolls were interested, there is basically no chance in hell.

It is very strange that WOTC is not giving away a licence in wich they are not interested. I mean... why doing that?

Perhaps it is thought best to control what is available and to avoid "confusion." They don't really need a reason except "it's mine, and you can't have it." They do license other stuff, and they might have their own plans for it... even if those plans are years and years down the line.

I agree.

So I just have to hope that in futue the Trolls will try to ask something like that to WOTC to see what the reply will be
Thanks.

There are no plans for TLG to resurrect Mystara. As Serleran noted, the campaign world is the property of another company. And there is no way they are going to license it.

Besides, I am happy with the fan created sites on line for Mystara. I think they "do it right" far more than WOTC ever will.

I have to agree.

But it is a wonderful and "historical" setting that deserves a fine treatment from real fans like the Trolls.

Give Aihrde a try, it has a real good feel...unique yet kinda familiar because of the nature of C&C. My only concern with Airdhe is that I think it's like the size of Jupiter...takes forever to get anywhere.

I wouldn't worry too much about WotC converting it to anything, monstrojoe - it converts pretty good on the fly without too much work. I ran a couple adventures in Mystara over the winter (during the SWSE break) and, granted, I wasn't running a campaign but it was pretty smooth. I wouldn't foresee any issues with a self-conversion.

Indeed, I would have just liked to see an updated history and some classes and races in C&C style... not anything that I could not do myself but a new series of adventures and boxed editions in Mystara would have been very cool.
