Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Are you suggesting that there was something wrong with the *awesome* that was the first one?

Only that the special effects are over 25 years old.

I know they are not like Bladerunner (That will still hold up to any movie made today.), and the special effects fall closer to Sinbad, but that is what makes the movie so endearing now. I remember watching it back then, I just watched it again recently and it surprisingly didn't have that, WTF was I thinking back then.

As far as looks go, this movie looks just fine. Cetus in particular is an improvement, though I see they're still mixing their mythologies and calling it "Kraken". The scorpions are a bit big for my taste; I think they should've stayed nearer their original, horse+ sort of size.

I just hope the same amount of work has gone into the dialogue. Still, I am hopeful.

Saw the trailer with my son before Sherlock Holmes last weekend, and he looked at me after it finished and informed me that we definitely have to see it.

Read the script about a year ago.

Meh.

It's not as good as the original, which in itself was passable.

The visuals looks great though.

Originally I was not looking forward to this flick because of the copius amount of jumping, and the fact it looked somewhat like 300. After the digital effects were added to the trailers and stuff, I got to say that this movie looks pretty... promising, from a visual effects standpoint that is. Liam Neesen.. um, weird in all that glittering.

I'm pretty excited for this film as well. It looks like a good popcorn flick (just like the original). I'm not holding my breath in regards to mythological accuracy (and it's not like the original film made much of an attempt at that). I do wish the Kraken looked a bit more like the original one in regards to its face (the new one reminds me a bit of the remade Godzilla). I'm glad they stuck with the same Medusa body though.

I'm looking forward to it. The original contained a good amount of cheese anyway so I won't expect to take this one too serious and will probably enjoy it.

Lots of stabbity and giant things to kill. I don't care if all they say throughout the movie is, "Rawrhg!" Plot does not matter at all when giant monsters and stabbity are involved.

I have to agree with some of the others in the fact that this does look like a promising entertaining movie. When I watch movies it is simply for the entertainment. If I want accuracy I will watch documentaries. A lot of people tend to confuse those two when watching a film these days.

Chad for the most part I agree with you. Movies are meant to be fun and escapist. That being said this question was asked to my brother by a group of young adults (ages maybe 13-16) after viewing Inglorious Bastards. "Wow, so thats really what happened during World War Two?" The questioner was VERY serious so maybe a little realism in certain movies is okay. Think about the kids .

Indeed not. I've never seen a film ruined by good plot and dialogue.

The trailer is having me noodle a "Scions of the Gods" game, though that may stretch CnC to it's limits.

Maybe a quick and dirty method would be to have the fantasy races be divine blood lines, elves = Athena, Dwarves = Vulcan, etc. then maybe ignore racial attribute penatlies.

Not a fan of a PC magic class, though. I'm tempted to have magic be NPC only, like in basic Pendragon. That always puts the fear of the Gods into the players.
