Thorax

Post by Piperdog »

According to my memory, Thorax was slain by Corthain back in the day. My question: is Thorax permanently gone, or banished back to the Void? I am writing an epic tale where his followers are about to bring him back, assuming he was just banished from the Prime Material Plane, but after rereading the codex, I think he ceased to exist. Can someone help me here? If he no longer exists, I will have to go with another chaotic evil god, but really wanted to use Thorax.

Thorax ceased to exist for all practical purposes, there is nothing to keep you from saying he is now doing the necessary things he needs to do in order to manifest himself once again in Aihrde. Everyone knows when your defeated in combat by another deity you are only "destroyed" if this world is the only one on which you exist. Since Thorax is a deity on multiple worlds he was only banished, and is now, in accordance with the "Great Pacts", allowed to take steps in which to return to Aihrde. Which can in turn be blocked by other deities who want to keep him away. All via their mortal worshippers, of course.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Mordius is "dead" by Thorax's hand, but she continues to grant spells to her followers. I don't see why Thorax can't do the same and have his worshipers actively trying to remanifest his physical being.

That was my take on it also, but I am wondering on the "official" ruling on that, since I ultimately want to submit it to Steve for possible publication. Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it. I will keep it Thorax for now and change it later if need be.

I can't remember where I read it (Crusader or on the boards somewhere), but I remember Steve saying that dispite Mordius being "dead" she was still an active deity. But since you play on submitting it, he should clarify the situation.

What makes you guys think Steve knows? He probably never made a definite decision one way or the other.

Like the All-Father is dead, but my home campaign for the last 3 years has revolved around not only keeping Unklar from returning from his banishment, but to resurrect the All Father from his self imposed "death".

Both are about to reach their final conclusion.

You know what Steve said when I told him my campaign outline? "Awesome idea!"

Since Thorax is still active in that he too has active worshipers, I am sure Steve will say this idea will work.

Nice, I've always wondered about something like that.

I have Mordius returning as Wenefar and Thorax returned as Unklar continuing the fights that started ages ago.

No member of the Vak-Eahrakun, great or small, can ever be utterly destroyed (which should say mountains about the All Father). They might dwindle, becoming only shadows of their former selves, but they never die.

So what happens to them? Who knows (well I do haha)? But their power manifests in odd ways, through cults that continue to worship them, magic items, prophecies, etc etc. As for the Red Duke, the many parts of the Cloak of Red and the Eye of Thorax name only a few.

Can they return? Of course. I would say so, but of course its your game.

Ha! Thanks Steve! I will continue my madness then. Let the free people of Airhde quiver in fear and loathing as the Great Bull returns to reek havoc upon the lands!

Bwahahahahah!
