Okay, not rpg related...just celebrating the fact that I tore apart my washer AND dryer, both of which stopped functioning in the same week. With the might of Google, advice from Dad, and trips to the local part store, I have conquered them both (must have rolled natural twenties). My wife and I were reluctantly looking at spending our vacation savings on a new set, but now.....victory! For you mechanically inclined types, this probably means nothing, but I have never been Mr. Fixit. So this was cool. Plus, my wife will be so happy, she may let me off the hook from the huge order I just put in for more rpg crap I don't need!

I had a similar experience about 12 years ago. The heating element went out on the drier and the belt broke on the washer.
I am handy with tools, but had never taken apart and repaired such things before. Its amazing what you can do with tools and a book. I have numerous car repairs I have also pulled off with a Chilton's in hand.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Good for you, P-dog. Fixing things is way better than replacing.

Trollzah! I learned the hard way how to fix crap in my house. We've had one explosion after the here and I'm too cheap to hire people. Often my choice has been, work on the CKG, or dredge sewage out of a 50 year old pipe with my bare hands....always I go with the sewage. hahaahah

Congrats. My wife is a mechanic, and so, I'd sit back and enjoy watching her get greasy...
Oh I know where you're coming from! I was a volunteer on an archaeological dig in Oxford years back and one of the women volunteers was such a sight to behold by the end of the day, what with her tight fitting and filthy overalls....
(no offence intended to the female readers, just the ramblings of an inveterate philogynist)

I try to fix something and it will never, ever work again. The black thumb of the mechanical world.
