Post by Tadhg »

Heya.

Great to see Steve and many of the TLG forum members at GCII. Twas a blast.

I'll try to get some pics and short vids up soon for anyone interested.

Very cool to meet some longtime TLG forum friends in person. [And yes, I'll tell y'all what these guys are really like in the flesh (for most of them)!!]

Yo.

A short vid of Rob Kuntz's game (Castle El Raja Key from 1972/73 - wherein Gary ventured).

Good work documenting the fun. I was so busy getting my fill of games. Tough job, I know.

Some pics:

Bill Cousino (Elise Gygax's husband). Great guy!

Dale, manning the check in/registration table. Another great guy!

First time playing the Dungeon board game.

Remembering Gary.

Rob Kuntz running Castle El Raja Key where Gary ventured in 1972/73!

And more:

Joe Goodman behind the DMs screen (I learned that Joe moved Goodman Games from Chicago out to California).

The most excellent Paul Stormberg running Chainmail!

Rob.

Rob and I, after his game.

Playing Ticket to Ride with Luke and his daughter and Dale.

Master class, Dungeon Master - Mr. Tim Kask keeping the PCs on their toes.

Von Deekin (The Keeper) running Wings of War. Great game, I played it later.

That's Druvas (Charley) on the left, then Bryan and Deek. Standing on the right is Luca, a great guy from Italy.

I've got one more video that I'll post soon.

I also plan to post the pics and short vid from the Giant Le Mans game.

That's it for now (unless I find more pics).

I bought a ticket in hopes of going, but obviously did not make it. At least my money goes towards the statue fund. I'll have to try harder next year. I think the "Table of Honor" for Gary was a great idea.

You're welcome. I'm glad to share. I loved when people shared their pics of the 1st and 2nd LGGC. It really pushed me to go to 3rd and 4th LGGC events.

Hope you can make GaryCON, sometime.

Unfortunately, he was just registering as I was leaving for the day. I really wanted to talk with him about a few things. I guess that's what phones are for!

Absolutely, John. You've got my number!

It was great meeting you too, Rhu. I think we had each other laughing equally hard. The Con was a lot of fun. So much gaming - I didn't see a single long face! What a great venue, too. Wish I could have made it for more than one day.

Tree, Rigon, I'm hoping we can do it again in October.

Don't worry. We didn't actually meet. I recognized you from your photos on the forums. I saw you but the time slipped away to introduce myself. I didn't want to interrupt the video making, you know.

Maybe members from the forum should have sponsored a party for meet and greet.

Very good idea about a meet-up!!

Had a total blast!

I played in sessions of the Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG, Star Frontiers, Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyboria, OD&D, and ran an extended pick-up game of B/X D&D on Sunday. Didn't get in any games of C&C, but I know it was well-represented.

Got to see a ton of old friends and meet a bunch of new ones. Had dinner Friday with Steve Chenault and Joe Goodman and Doug Kovacs and the Kenzer crew. Got to hang out with and play in a game with Jeff Rients. The only disappointment on the meeting folks front was that Bob Bledsaw was going to drive up, but had to cancel at the last minute...

Spent a goodly amount of time explaining what happened with AGP and where I was going from there... as expected.

Rhu -- was that the Dungeon board game from the game library? If so, that was my copy, so you cut your teeth on Dungeon using the same game I played with my family as a kid...

Can't wait till next year!

Hi James. Not sure. I sat down to play that game before I noticed that you have your games marked with stickers that indicated the game is from your library. That Dungeon! game looked to be in very good condition like all those other great games that you have.

I did Chris later running/playing the earlier version of D!

It was a nice step up in venue location- and it was 3 days of fun. It will be held next year at the same location.

I would really like to see both Steve & Davis make an appearance (Steve made it this year).

I concur

Actually, Davis attended. He shaved and put on glasses to pretend to be Steve. I didn't fall for it, I knew it was Davis.

Maybe next year I'll be able to attend. Thanks for the pictures and breakdown. Sounds like it just gets more and more fun the more I'm not there.

Then you should not miss next year.

We began putting Gary Con III together during GCII. I think most people would take a couple of months off after a convention is over, but not us. I guess we have so much passion in what we are doing to honor Gary Gygax.

All I can say is that we have come up with some cool ideas to make GCIII even better! So the question is- Who's coming in 2011?

Hush up child!

Yes, you should definitely go. And bring your girl, Fiff and his crew, Nym and anyone else.

And all of our peeps, here.

I envision a huge blowout C&C game!! Hehe, can you imagine a good gang of players from here sitting in on a big game??

Praps, Davis or Steve as the CK!!

Awesome!!
