Character Training

Does anyone have a method for training costs by level and class?
Scream and charge is not a tactic.

Ive never used em, but one GM I know does 100 gp per level to be reached (so at 2 its 200, at 3 an additional 300, etc.). Also you have to locate a name level trainer to administer the training. Once you reached name level (around level 9), you could self train but you would have to purchase facilities where you can train. If you're a wizard you'd need a lab and library, fighters require training grounds with target dummies and sparring partners, etc.

The PHB mentions an amount of time needed for level training (1 week per level to advance to so that a 5th level PC needs 6 weeks to advance to 6th)... but there is no direct mention of cost. Given that the majority of a character's EPP would be earned through accumulation of gold pieces (seeing as the XP values for monsters directly are somewhat low -- around 1/4th of AD&D in many cases), it would seem a natural fit that some amount of it must be spent on training -- 100 seems awfully low to me (as a flat fee). I would likely do 100 / level being attained (100 / week, basically)... but would also allow "self-training."

That is, if I used training rules.
