Clash of the Titans

Post by GameOgre »

I looked forward to this movie for a long time only to be VERY disapointed last night at midnight.

I wont spoil the movie but they changed the story a lot and it no longer worked. The acting was not very good or maybe it was just the gawdawful lines.

The story no longer worked at all and it ate itself several times. It got almost painful to watch.Special effects were not bad..in fact the whole movie seemed just a excuse to do them.

Sadly I can't say its even worth the price. Save some money and go rent the original.

Seriously?!

I was afraid of that. The previews look cool, though, but of course, that is the whole purpose of throwing a trailer out there....to hook you into seeing the movie. The original is a classic, and I am disappointed to hear the story is a wreck. I may wait until it comes out on DVD.

The reviews of this movie have been atrocious. When reading them yesterday I thought for a second they might be a cruel April Fool's joke. Sadly they appear not to be a joke.

Sweet Lord don't let Todd Gray know (the G in Chenault and Gray our parent company). He LOVES the original clash and is really wanting to hate this movie. I still get grief over BSG and Apollo? (whoever turns into a chick in the remake)...as if it was my fault! haha I'll never hear the end of it with Clash, one of his all time favorite movies.

Sadly, this doesn't surprise me. I <3 the original. And even though it is 'old', my ten year old son loves it as well. I had planned on maybe me and the boy going to see this, but thanks to the heads up, we won't.

Tell Todd you heard it was awesome and he should totally go see it as soon as he can. Have him be sure to take Mark along. That would be comedy gold, Steve. Comedy gold.

Although in fairness, Starbuck looked kind of "manly" Maybe she just got a little snipped.

What? I meant her hair...it was much shorter.

Did you see it in 3d? I hear the 3d version is abominable because they tried too hard to rush into an Avatar-like thriller of non-stop sucking. Supposedly, the effects are better in 2 dimensions. Either way, I still can't see Liam Neeson as Zeus.

I predicted, back when I saw the first trailer, that the movie would bomb.

Glad I was right.

Yeah, the movie should have just shut up and looked pretty but they tried too hard to get some sense of a message out of it.

I mean, all they had to do was have violence and CG and they mucked all of that up with stupid everything else.

Does it at least have the robot owl? I haven't seen it in any of the trailers, but I have only seen one trailer.

The story is completely different, according to what I read on Rotten Tomatoes. No Bubo, Calibos has a new name, Hades is the big bad, and Perseus has to embrace his divinity to win the day.

Umm, does that sound like Greek mythology to you? The original was so much better. Even Bubo, despite his non-existence in Greek myth, was deeply rooted in Greek myth (Hephaestus made him, and Hephaestus was myth) AND fact (Antikythera Mechanism).

Don't read that for spoilers, but somebody changed it so Osama bin Laden played Zeus. I thought that was funny, because that's what he looked like.

My son and I saw this today, we enjoyed it. We also saw "How to Train Your Dragon", or whatever its called, and we enjoyed that one even more.

I didn't see Titans in 3D. Yeah, if your want this to be a dedicated remake of the first, you won't like it. I didn't expect that, I didn't want that, so I enjoyed it.

I do wish they used the owl, though, I liked the owl. I much prefer the fight with the Medusa in this one over the original. The final fight with the kracken was far less cheesy than the original as well.

I cannot "buy" anyone as Zeus, so Liam was an OK stand in.

I may still go see this movie yet, but from what I have been told by others who have seen it, it was disappointing. One of my buddies said it wasn't bad, but it was like they tried to fit too much in too little time and couldn't pull it off. Plus, the "reimagining" of the original story left him a little cold.

I was hoping for a literal remake; same story, but with today's special effects. The original is still one of my favorite movies, though the actor who played Perseus was a nancy boy and even bothered me a touch when I was a kid and saw the movie for the first time. Still, it was the story that was awesome, and it saddens me a bit that this movie was largely rewritten.

Now let's wait for the travesty of the next Conan film.

I enjoyed it.

My take:

If it were too much like the original, then there'd be no point in doing it...

...and, Gorgons & gods movies are better than no Gorgons & gods movies.

Eh, watching medusa kick ass for 15 bucks or so, I'm in.

Yeah, the Medusa was BAD ASSSSSSSSSSS!! I enjoyed the Scorpion battle too. Plus I like the Jynn. Gynn. However it would be spelled.

The Medusa was the best part of this movie hands down. The wretched 3D the worst part (wish I had just gone to the 2D) and the smoking hot actress that played Io the secret-best-part of the movie.

Liam Neeson was phoning it in and Hades needed Rogaine for Gods. Harry Hamlin still owns the Perseus role.

I saw it on Saturday and really enjoyed it. I'd basically echo the positive comments above. If you go in with a chip on your shoulder, you're not going to enjoy. Me? I enjoyed the hell out of it. Lots of monsters and action. Basically, it's an action movie with cool monsters.

I would agree that the 3D wasn't really worth it. Then again, the Missus and I only get out once in a great while, so figured we'd go for it anyhow.

I thought it was pretty stupid when I had enough time to think about it. I am a snob for special effects, so if it is not Lord of the Rings quality, I would rather have principle effects done.

They also did a fantastic job of taking any semblance of heroism from Perseus.

I felt like the battle scenes were more like those from a video game than a movie.

Yeah, we didn't do the 3-D version, we did it for the Dragon movie though, which is another fun one to go see.

Saw it Sunday and enjoyed myself.

I don't remember any Oscar winning acting in the first one either nor did I expect it here.

I liked the movie. Much better than the troop insulting debacle the actor was in before. Dances With Wolves in Space...oh and the indians are blue...yawn.
Was it just me, or was the image of the princess trussed up on the sacrificial rack extremely sexy?
My wife who is a nurse said all she thought about was that her arms would be dislocated.

uh-huh, leave it to a nurse to ruin my perfectly hot visual.
