I'd love more info about The Harbinger Variant and its contents. Has this been released? Does anyone own it?

All I've heard is there is a new(er) quick start rules which is likely (not necessarily) to be included. Don't know for sure, but I don't have one... want one.

I agree. I have a con coming up in a month, and this would be good to have for that.

I have a stack of these on the shipping table, but no addresses. Kim sent them to me and I dumped them with a huge bunch of emails (this one no computer software glitch, but a Steve special. I pinged him to resend. When he does we'll start rolling these out.

Anyone that sent me a completed form for the HV, my apologies. I check my email via Outlook 2010 and apparently all the bugs aren't worked out. I've had emails sitting in my inbox for close to a week and Outlook never retrieved them. Got them all today and have taken appropriate action. Steve should have the info he needs now to send them out.

Blame Bill Gates. Seems to work for me.

Any word on this? I'll be running some C&C the weekend of 5/14.

If not, no sweat. I will use me some Dwarven Glory!

Also running some C&C on 5/29 at MARcon. What do we need to do?

Dwarven Glory works well. Still have yet to run the 2nd adventure of the three. Wizardms Tower, and Cloud Giant's Tower are good for con-length sessions.

Omote, I already have one from you. It has been to the Supreme Troll Overlord Position for approval. (the fact that those letters spell STOP is merely a coincidence). Things are rolling and the HV should start shipping Friday. If you haven't heard anything next week and you sent a request, drop me a line and I'll check on it for you.

Take care,

Kim

Sorry for the delay on this guys. I completely forgot about Free RPG Day. I have to get my stuff in by the 7th (ha! like that's going to happen, but I am Troll after all) and I raided all the harbinger box sets for their book for Little Egypt Wars!

Friday it is though.

Thanks for the patience!

I don't need the whole set, but I could sure use a crap-ton of those quickstart rules/charcter sheets for many upcoming demo's.

I thought I told you not to tell anyone. Now everyone will want to sleep with me. Wait, everyone already does.
Send me an email, John, and I'll work on getting you one.

I sent my request in to Kim, but he said something about passing the info on to Steve, so I cringe.

I kid, I kid!

Hmm, I thought I got passed. Maybe there's still hope for me getting one. Maybe not.

Yeah, I have.
From what I understand, almost everyone that sent me a request was approved and they have started shipping. I was very impressed by what is inside. For $20, it really is a great deal. For free? Even better...

If you guys don't start seeing them soon, drop me an email.

I am using mine at a convention this weekend. The box is the same size as the Umbrage Saga box set (about 1" deep). Included within:

x5 Castles & Crusades quick-play "Primer" rulebooks.

x2 Castles & Crusades adventure modules

x1 Softcover Castles & Crusades PHB (4th printing) - prize support.

As I understand it there are supposed to be a few additional goodies that were not inlcuded with the package I received. I think some business card like advertising that has TLG information on it. I requested mine in time for the convention I'm at, so I think it went out a little early.

The 5 C&C Primer rule books are not the exact quick-play books from previous Free RPG Day events. The covers of these quick play books are actually a C&C Character sheets. Inside these 26 page, stapled books are some basic rules of the game, 4 character races and 5 character classes. There are abbreviated spell and equipment lists. There are a few TLG advertisements sprinkled within the Primer rulebooks. The box set that holds all of this TLG goodness is a white cover with new Peter Bradley artwork. See the link above.

Yeah the Harbinger sets are very cool. I picked one up and it's packed with goodness. I doubt anyone giving a serious shot at demoing using the included tools would have a problem impressing at least some of their players.

The most impressive thing is just how complete the quickstart rulebooks are. These will take you all the way up to level 5 and include everything a player needs to keep gaming for months or years if he has access to modules. Heck I paid almost 30 bones for a boxed set recently that did about the same thing. My Dragon Age box goes to the same level and was fairly pricey, but it's a coo game so Im not complainin'.
