Chill out with the HFCS Dr Pepper ya'll!!! I am worried!

Post by papercut »

After seeing some of the vids of the Troll Lords, I see that ya'll have a dangerous affliction of HFCS Dr Pepper. I prescribe a cane sugar alternative:

I for one fully endorse any move away from HFCS. Jones Soda and Sioux City Soda both offer cane sugar sodas that are great as well.

I can see it now:
Someone: Hey Steve, I suggest you change drinks, from Dr Pepper to...
Steve: I suggest you just shut the hell up right now, pilgrim.

Announcer's whispered voice: "We've secretly changed Steve's Dr. Pepper with a cane sugar alternative. Let's see if he notices..."

Its old skool sugar Dr Pepper, cane sugar, not the beet sugar crap in the Throw back stuff. It can take you back to the True Gygaxian days of yore (hmm, I think the soda companies switched around '85 or so).

Plus, it is from Texas, and as all Arkansansians know...

Up here in the PNW we've heard it referred to as carbonated prune juice.

Everyone with half a brain knows that DP is Mountain Dew's prison mammy.

I use DP only if the really cool extreme sodas are all gone.

Doing the Dew baby!

Mountain Dew is the diaper stain from real Jolt, which was the bastard sibling of pure sugafeine. Neither has much flavor. Dr. Pepper has 23:

1. Amaretto

2. Almond

3. Blackberry

4. Black Licorice

5. Carrot

6. Clove

7. Cherry

8. Caramel

9. Cola

10. Ginger

11. Juniper

12. Lemon

13. Molasses

14. Nutmeg

15. Orange

16. Prune

17. Plum

18. Pepper

19. Root Beer

20. Rum

21. Raspberry

22. Tomato

23. Vanilla

Yeah... cause you, know, coffee (caffeine) or tea (caffeine) and sugar (pretty much all Mountain Dew is) are never poured down a sink.... I fail to see your point.

Of course, that doesn't mean I had one.

When you break the flavor profile down like that it helps me identify exactly why I find Dr. Pepper disgusting to my tastes. I'm actually allergic to two of the flavors which my body rejects at tastebud level .

Yeah, it is quite ironic that it hs a few alcohol flavors when I can't stand the taste of alcohol... must be the mix is just right.

Hehe, I think I taste most of those flavors except rum . . cause I tend to add rum or Bourbon for the excellence!!

Dr. Pepper is great. And diet Dr. Pepper might be even better!

You guys want a REAL soda, try the New England favorite:
Moxie Original Elixir

Established in 1884, Moxie is the oldest continuously produced soft drink in the United States. It has one of the most colorful histories of any soft drink. In the early days Moxie was known as a therapeutic nerve tonic elixir. It allegedly cured paralysis, softening of the brain, nervousness, insomnia and.... loss of manhood ? - maybe the first version of Viagra!

Over the years the word "Moxie" became part of the language meaning to have nerve or guts
