Mayonnaise is one of the very basic sauces and the basis for about a dozen others that I can think off the top of my head. It's one of the things you should know how to make before you even apply to culinary school.

I can see that in a commercial mayo...make one yourself sometime, it may change your mind. I feel the same way about barbecue sauces I don't make myself.
Corn syrup has no place in either, but most commecial brands do.
