Thursday night meet-up?

Post by CKDad »

My son and I will be flying in Thursday. Anyone interested in meeting up for dinner, or perhaps a bit of pre-con gaming Thursday evening?

Thursday Meet up

Post by Dorien »

My son, two of his friends and I will be driving in from Dallas Thursday morning, we should hit town around 3 give or take.

We could grab dinner and have a game.

turns out we're not landing until 5:30 PM; will probably be about 6:30 when we hit the hotel. But if dinner around 7 or so works we can meet up then!

Yeah, the Little Rock International Airport, better known as Adams Field, is huge. If you land at 5:30pm, by the time you walk the terminal, get to baggage claim, find your exit and get a cab (or rent a car) it may be as late at 5:40pm, maybe 5:45pm.

Heh - it's not the size, though the terminal is pretty freakin' long for how big the airport is. It's more the creakiness of the knees and ankles.

Having been last year and scoped out things a bit, here's what I know is close by:

Walking distance

- Jason's Deli - sandwiches, pizza, salads, baked potatoes the size of your head (only slightly exaggerating), free ice cream.

- Waffle House - best hash browns EVER. Best for breakfast IMHO, but other stuff as well.

Close driving:

- BBQ joint I can't remember the name of.

- Purple Cow - burgers, chicken sandwiches, excellent milkshakes.

Probably more that I'm not remembering but those are the highlights. Other options further afield.

There is a P. F. Chang's right there, a Denny's across the street and a restaurant that used to be called 'Julie's' then 'Khalid's' right there as well. A really nice Chinese place called Chi's is on top of that hill at the main intersection. There is a really nice Mexican placed called Cozymels in the area as well.

Hell, I haven't lived there in a year and still remember the eating joints. No wonder I'm a fat boy...

I'll be in Thursday, committed to something that evening but will be around later - will try to touch base with anyone as we get closer.

Definitely would be interested in anyone who wants to do a 1st DAY BREAKFAST at ye olde Waffle House before the con opens on Friday morning

Don't forget, I have two nice roomy rooms only a couple of miles away, but having stayed at the convention site last year, there is plenty of areas we could game around the hotel too. Just my rooms have a refrigerator, stove, etc... and privacy.

Dinner and a Game

Post by Dorien »

If someone wants to organize (or at least pick a spot), my son and his two friends (4 of us in all) would participate. We'll get into LR around 3 or 3:30 on Thursday.

I wish I could hang with you cats on Thursday, but Thursday is when we do the final touches on planning deployment for the convention.

Dinner

Post by Dorien »

If no one has a better suggestion then let's all meet at the Purple Cow for dinner between 6 and 6:30, then decide where/if/when to game.

Is anyone interested in CK'ing that night?

Purple Cow Thursday night, check. My sidekick and I will likely meet you all over there.

I can run a game for at least some folks - I can handle up to about 8 players decently.

Well, with my regular weekly poker game changed to Thursday this week, I may leave Wednesday night after work. That would allow me to get there earlier on Thursday. We'll see.

Thursday Night Meetup

Post by Dorien »

If anyone is interested, and it looks like at least one other party is, we'll be at the Purple Cow between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

We can figure out then if there is enough for a game, and I think we have a volunteer to CK an 8 person game, all we need is a location.

I am already here. I am just down the street from the Con location, in fact right next to last years Con location and the Donut shop. Which is doubly ironic since last year I stayed at this years Con location.

Anyways, my rooms are nice and roomy, couches, tables, etc... So if we to get too numerous we can use one of my rooms. We have two. My kids play, so we make 4 all by ourselves. So sounds like we are to 8 or more already.

I think the meet up went well. Kind of our own mini Con with one group of 5 or 6 in one room, and the other 5 or 6 in the other room.
