Fields of Battle: UHP question

Post by nwelte1 »

I am creating a maptool framework for Fields of Battle. In doing so, I noticed that Example 3 and table 2-2 in the sidebar on page 7 may be in error. For this reason, I wanted to ask for clarity regarding the formula to determine UHP.

I understand the formula as follows:

(Max. HP of unit creature) * size multiplier (rounded up) * ratio

In other words you round up before multiplying by the ratio. When "rounding up" all decimals are rounded up to the next highest number. Thus a 1d4 creature would have a UHP of 20. 4*1/3=1.33333 1.33333 rounded up = 2 *10= 20.

For Calvary the formula is:

(Max. HP of mount + Max. HP of rider) * size multiplier of mount (rounded up) * ratio

Thus under example 3, the UHP should be 54 not 52 as set in the book; and table 2-2 should read as follows:

Am I misunderstanding the formula?

I'll bump this for you now that TC is over and some lucky souls got to play Fob.

As I understood what Casey said, yes, it should be 54.

Christina is checking but I believe the answer is 54 and the 52 is one of the infamous trollish keystroke errors .

Bottom line, if the math tells you its 54 trust the math!

Cheers.

Nate, if you have a working framework for FoB in MapTools, we should play a senerio or two. It is fun as hell.

We may not get to use your macros, but the Battle of Saltmarsh is coming up for our Tuesday group!

Sounds like fun, on both counts. Maybe we should have had more knights and bards in the party for some leadership and inspiration.

Wait a minute... Rhuvein played a knight in the Tuesday game and a bard in the Sunday game
