Awesome, looking forward to seeing everyone. Do they even have gaming stores in Dierks?

lol No in fact they don't. The truth is we have to depend on the internet and BAM (which is an hour away in Texarkana or Hot Springs) for most of our RPG purchases. As far as a place to play, there is not a game within 2 hours that I have been able to find.

You have no idea how great this weekend will be for me and my kids.

I think I will... I live in Meridian, MS (via Little Rock). Nice town, but there is zero gaming community here. Hell, there is very little if any gaming stores in the entire state. I feel your pain.

i checked out the little rock zoo website but couldn't find the hours of operation. In absence of any plan, i thought i could take my 9 month old and 5 year old with me, but i just don't know.

just got the hours. i guess i could get a hotel, corral the kids during two days of gaming, and go the zoo on Sunday. Awww Hell, who am I kidding??? The oldest would be manageable, but the youngest?? At last minute, the con is probably not in the cards. Must have a been fate that kept me from pre-regestering. Maybe GenCon and Dragon Con are still on the table.

Epic fail pretty much sums up my situation, short of a miracle.

Sorry, but, but . . I can volunteer to help out. I've raised my daughter and a boat load of nieces and nephews ~ so I'd be willing to spend time as a nanny to the little one or gaming/coaching the older one.

And I'm sure most of the rest of us who are parents can help out . . you/we can do it, man!!

Kids are easy . . . gamers as parents know and understand and stand ready.

i appreciate the kind offer. my 5 year old would enjoy things, but the wee one? I can imagine holding him at a game table. Crying that would be louder and more annoying that trying to talk over a roomfull of gamers, the squirming, etc. As BD said, epic fail.

Guys, you all have fun. I was holding out hope that things would slip to the right by a week and I'd get a chance to dash up there for a couple of days.

Unfortunately, my orders came through today and I get on a plane this Sunday to go to NC then after a few days of gear check and briefing I get to deploy to the beautiful mountains of Afghanistan (for the last time ever!).

Next year, I'll be with in weeks of being a Mr instead of a MSgt, so the good lord willing and if the creeks don't rise, I'll be there!!!!

Again, have fun, slay an orc or 3 for me and lift a glass or 5 of good beer ...

I hope everyone has a great time. Until just recently, I was to return for my 2nd year. Other things got in the way. Oh well. I hope the rest of you have a good time. It's not so much the gaming that I miss, but the people. There were several people coming who weren't there last year. Not to mention Peter, Mark, Davis, BD, McBain, the "elusive" Mac Golden, Stephen, and Todd G. Thankfully, I see Stephen at least twice a year, and the rest at least once. I shall miss talking my usual conservative/libertarian politics, pop culture, and whatever else with Todd and the Brothers C. Hell, I'll miss Larry Elmore as well, but he's the hardest working and travelling artist on the con circuit. I see him at least twice a year, but still yet...Gone too is my much talked about, late night Troll Con screening of Dark Dungeon starring Ton Hanks, and Stephen's favorite...Dark Star. Maybe next year. Roll some dice for me, you lucky bastards. See you at Gen Con, DragonCon, and Archon!

Bags are packed and just a bit more until I am off for a three-day weekend. Should be leaving soon, en route to LR. About a 7 hr drive. See you guys soon. And for those not fortunate to attend, there will be pictures aplenty within days of the con.

See you there!

Have fun guys! I'm gonna make it there one of these years. My sister-in-law just moved to northern Texas this year so it gives my wife some incentive to travel to that neck of the woods. Hopefully next year.
